Mokpo Regional VTS of West Sea Coast Guard Hosts Field Trip for Local University Students

Introduction to Coast Guard Public Relations and Regional VTS Operations

The West Sea Regional Coast Guard Headquarters (Chief Lee Myungjun) announced that the Mokpo Regional Vessel Traffic Service Center (VTS) conducted an on-site field trip on the 24th for students of Mokpo National Maritime University to enhance their understanding of major-related subjects.

This field trip was attended by 44 students and a professor from the Department of Maritime Transportation at Mokpo National Maritime University who are taking the Vessel Traffic Equipment course. Mokpo Regional VTS provided a business briefing and guided tours by control zones covering Mokpo, Jindo, and Shinan, highlighting the role and importance of vessel traffic service.


The students commented, "We found it interesting to visit Mokpo Regional VTS, which is closely related to our future career paths," and added, "We were able to learn about the work of controllers who strive for maritime safety and accident prevention 24 hours a day."


A representative from the West Sea Regional Coast Guard Headquarters stated, "We hope for continued interest in maritime safety and vessel traffic service operations," and added, "We will continue to actively promote public awareness and foster outstanding maritime talent."
