Retinal 'Augmented Reality Display' · Inizy 'Explainable AI'... National Strategic Technologies Confirmed Yonhap News

Retinal's display technology and Iniji's artificial intelligence (AI) technology have been recognized as national strategic technologies. On the 24th, the Ministry of Science and ICT and the Korea Institute of S&T Evaluation and Planning (KISTEP) announced the results of the '1st National Strategic Technology Confirmation Application.'

This system verifies whether technologies possessed or under research and development (R&D) by research institutes, universities, or companies qualify as national strategic technologies.

Retinal was confirmed to possess and manage convergent display product commercialization technology in the display field. The core technology involves embedding a transparent reflective part inside the lens to realize a bright, clear, and lightweight augmented reality (AR) display.

Iniji was confirmed to possess and manage 'explainable AI' (XAI) technology in the AI field. This technology explains the basis and process of AI predictions, enabling the use of AI for optimizing industrial processes and predicting equipment failures.

Companies confirmed to possess and manage national strategic technologies are eligible for 'super-gap technology special listing.' This year, additional benefits such as extra points for military service designated companies and policy financial support have been added for companies confirmed to possess, manage, or conduct R&D.

Applications for confirmation can be submitted quarterly, and the announcement for the 2nd National Strategic Technology Confirmation Application will be made in April.
