The Daegaya Festival in Goryeong County (Governor Lee Namcheol) announced on the 24th that it has received the '2025 Asia Regional Traditional Arts Festival (Tangible Heritage Category)' award at the 2025 Asia Festival Awards (Asia Representative Festival), hosted and organized by the Asia Chapter of the International Festivals & Events Association.
The 2025 Asia Festival Awards, held in Gyeongju on the 20th, presented awards in a total of 15 categories. The excellence of each festival was evaluated based on the efficiency of festival management, social and cultural ripple effects, and festival branding, considering festival information, killer content, and impact in accordance with each category's theme.

The Daegaya Festival in Goryeong succeeded in popularizing 'Daegaya' through the festival, contributed to redefining historical perspectives from the traditional Three Kingdoms period (Goguryeo, Baekje, Silla) to the Four Kingdoms period (Goguryeo, Baekje, Silla, Gaya), and planned and operated various programs utilizing tangible heritage representing Daegaya, including the UNESCO World Heritage Jisandong Tumuli. These efforts overcame the potential heaviness of a history festival and successfully captured both 'buzz' and 'popularity,' which were key factors in winning the award.
Lee Namcheol, Governor of Goryeong County, stated, "Following the selection as Korea's Best Festival in 2024-2025, I am overjoyed that the excellence of the Daegaya Festival has been recognized with the 2025 Asia Representative Festival award. At the same time, I will remain humble and prepare for the 2025 festival with dedication to ensure it lives up to its reputation."
The 2025 Daegaya Festival in Goryeong will actively utilize key issues such as the designation of Daegaya as an ancient capital, its inscription as a UNESCO World Heritage site, and the excavation of pottery inscribed with 'Great King.' While maintaining the festival's identity and continuity, new programs tailored to contemporary Goryeong will be introduced to tell unique stories. Under the theme 'Land of the Great King,' the festival will be held from March 28 to 30 in the Daegaya Historical Theme Tourism Complex and throughout the Daegaya-eup area.
