Hwasun Chonnam National University Hospital (Director Min Jungjun) announced on the 24th that it has introduced the latest 3.0T MRI device, 'MAGNETOM Vida,' equipped with artificial intelligence (AI) technology, thereby dramatically advancing the accuracy of imaging diagnostics and patient convenience.
At the activation ceremony held recently at the MRI room on the first floor of Hwasun Chonnam National University Hospital, key executives including Director Min Jungjun, as well as Radiology Department Head Heo Sookhee and Professor Jung Yongyeon, attended the event.
'MAGNETOM Vida' is an MRI model featuring biomatrix technology, which automatically detects patients' vital signs and provides real-time imaging by monitoring respiration and heartbeats. It is evaluated to have overcome the limitations of conventional MRIs by enabling examinations for patients with irregular breathing or unstable cardiac waveforms.
In particular, the real-time detection sensors installed in the MRI automatically correct movements caused by breathing, making abdominal MRI scans possible for patients who cannot communicate well, such as unconscious emergency patients, as well as pediatric and elderly patients who cannot hold their breath for long periods.
The AI automation function can be applied to various areas such as the head, spine, hip joint, musculoskeletal system, and heart. It also allows for automatic planning of complex anatomical structures, reducing preparation time. Additionally, high-resolution 3D images can be obtained in a short time, improving both the quality and efficiency of examination workflows.
Heo Sookhee, Head of the Radiology Department, said, "With the introduction of 'MAGNETOM Vida,' equipped with top-tier hardware performance and AI technology, we can now provide patients with safer and more comfortable examinations through improved image quality and reduced scan times."
Min Jungjun, Director of the hospital, stated, "The latest MRI equipment will greatly assist clinical departments in accurately diagnosing and planning treatments for patients' diseases at an early stage through high-definition imaging. As a regional hub medical institution, we will strive to provide the best medical services through prompt and accurate diagnoses."
