The ‘Hope Commercial District Project’ is a project aimed at revitalizing individual commercial districts in crisis and supporting livelihood stability and the local economy. It is jointly promoted by Gyeonggi Province and the Gyeonggi Market and Commercial District Promotion Agency.

Yangju City’s Jangheung Merchants Association, a coalition of the Ilyeong-ri Shopping District Prosperity Association and the Jangheung Clean Valley Merchants Association, was finally selected. Along with the selection of Nammyeon Sinsan-ri for the Ministry of SMEs and Startups’ ‘First Step Foundation Project,’ Yangju City and the local commercial district will consecutively receive national and provincial funding support.

Only four locations in Gyeonggi Province were selected for this contest, which supports a total budget of 400 million KRW. The project will promote a revitalization plan encompassing hardware, software, and humanware, including ▲ landmark development and commercial street creation in Jangheung commercial district ▲ content production ▲ promotional marketing and commercial district education. Through this, the Jangheung commercial district plans to establish a foundation for a second renaissance.

Mayor Kang Su-hyun of Yangju City said, "We will not be satisfied with just being selected for this project to revitalize the commercial district, but will continue to carry out substantial projects to revitalize the local economy." He added, "We will do our best to promote policies for the local economy and small business owners in the future."
