'Siheung Drone Education Center' to Host Program in Baegot New Town

Siheung City in Gyeonggi Province will operate the '2025 Drone Experience Program' at the Siheung Drone Education Center starting in April for elementary school students and their families in the area.

This program consists of student experiences through the Creative Career Experience School and family unit experiences for elementary school students. The student experience program will be held 12 times over 6 days from April to November, and the family experience program will be held 18 times over 9 days from May to October.
The program is mainly practice-oriented and includes ▲drone theory education ▲drone racing ▲drone claw machine ▲drone balloon popping ▲Pop drone ▲drone aerial photography experience, among others.
The Siheung Drone Education Center, the training location, is a facility built by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport on land provided free of charge by Siheung City within the Siheung Baegot District. Since November 2020, the Korea Transportation Safety Authority has been entrusted with operating the center. The center runs public sector drone pilot training and instructor education, as well as various drone experience education programs and events.
Previously, the city signed a mutual business agreement with the Korea Transportation Safety Authority in 2022 and has been operating the 'Drone Education Center Facility Opening and Drone Experience Education' project since 2023 as part of future education for the 4th industrial revolution. Last year, 30 drone experience education sessions were conducted, with 1,116 participants completing the programs, including students and families.
Im Byung-taek, Mayor of Siheung, said, "By continuously providing drone experience opportunities to students and citizens, we aim to increase interest in the 4th industrial revolution and lay the foundation for choosing related jobs," adding, "We will continue to contribute to actively discovering and nurturing advanced drone experts through the center."
