Paju-si to Provide Up to 100,000 KRW Annually for 'Energy Saving Carbon Neutrality Practice Points'

On the 24th, Paju City in Gyeonggi Province announced that it will recruit new participants in the energy sector for the Carbon Neutrality Points System throughout the year to reduce greenhouse gas emissions through the practice of carbon neutrality in daily life.

The Carbon Neutrality Points System is a greenhouse gas reduction program targeting the entire population to respond to the climate crisis. In the energy sector, if households and commercial establishments reduce their electricity, city gas, and water usage by more than 5% compared to the average of the past two years, they are awarded 'Carbon Neutrality Points' according to the reduction rate.

Last year, citizens' participation in energy saving resulted in a reduction of 9,295 tons of greenhouse gases. When converted to cash, the awarded 'Carbon Neutrality Points' amounted to 210 million KRW.

This year, to encourage citizen participation, the city decided to increase the conversion rate from 1.7 KRW per point to 2 KRW per point, providing up to 100,000 KRW annually per household. Points are paid twice a year (June and December) as 'cash,' 'Green Card points,' or 'Gas App cash.'

Applicants must be the head of the household or a household member. Those wishing to participate can apply by visiting the Climate Crisis Response Division at City Hall or the Eup/Myeon/Dong Administrative Welfare Centers, or through the Carbon Neutrality Points System website or the mobile app 'CarbonPay.'

If there are changes in personal information such as address among existing participants, they must update the information online or through the Climate Crisis Response Division to receive benefits.
