Any Geumcheon-gu Resident Interested in Energy Education and Activities Can Apply by March 27
Case Studies and Practical Training on Energy Transition, Carbon Neutrality, Renewable Energy, and Building Energy
Geumcheon-gu (Mayor Yu Seong-hoon) announced that it will operate the ‘Energy Expert Training Course’ at the Geumcheon Eco Energy Center from March 27 to April 24.
An ‘Energy Expert’ is an energy specialist who helps consumers use energy efficiently in the era of the climate crisis. The district prepared this education to raise residents’ awareness of the climate crisis and carbon neutrality and to share efficient energy usage methods.
The program consists of a total of 10 sessions. The first lecture explains the concepts of energy transition and carbon neutrality to provide a general understanding of the climate crisis. Sessions 3 and 4 present practical methods to prevent the climate crisis, such as food, biodiversity, and other measures for preserving the Earth’s ecology.
From sessions 5 to 8, the program introduces renewable energy and building energy, explaining how to understand and manage them efficiently. On the last day, participants practice ‘energy consulting’ themselves and engage in discussions to strengthen their capabilities to become energy experts.
Those who attend more than 90% of the lectures and complete the course will be able to participate as activists at the Geumcheon Eco Energy Center in 2025. The Geumcheon Eco Energy Center is a community hub space for energy transition self-reliance policies and carbon neutrality. It leads carbon neutrality practices by conducting environmental education programs, renewable energy distribution projects, citizen cooperation projects for energy transition, training energy experts, and publishing energy reports.
Any Geumcheon-gu resident interested in the climate crisis and solar energy can participate in the education. Applications can be submitted online by accessing the QR code on the promotional materials or the Geumcheon Eco Energy Center website by March 27.
A district official stated, “In connection with the Geumcheon-gu Community Economy Integrated Support Center and the Geumcheon Eco Energy Center, we plan to solve environmental issues, which are major agendas of our district, together and nurture village activists related to the climate crisis to expand a sustainable village ecosystem.”
Yu Seong-hoon, Mayor of Geumcheon-gu, said, “I hope residents will have a meaningful time understanding the climate crisis and carbon neutrality through education on energy consumption and management and practicing efficient energy use.”
The district is promoting various policies aimed at achieving carbon neutrality by 2050. △Greenhouse gas reduction awareness budget system △Increased floor area ratio for buildings using eco-friendly materials △Support projects for installing solar power facilities △Creation of the resident-led carbon neutrality practice ‘Geumha Village’ are some of the efforts made through public-private cooperation to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
