Simultaneous Selection for Both 'Youth Growth Project' and 'Youth Challenge Support Project'
Customized Employment Support Programs for Long-term Unemployed and Job-seeking Youths
Yeongdeungpo-gu (District Mayor Choi Ho-kwon) announced that it has secured 640 million KRW in national funding by being simultaneously selected for two youth employment support projects led by the Ministry of Employment and Labor: the ‘Youth Growth Project’ and the ‘Youth Challenge Support Project.’
According to the ‘February 2025 Employment Trends’ recently released by Statistics Korea, the number of youths aged 15 to 29 who are classified as ‘not working or resting’ reached 504,000, surpassing 500,000 for the first time since statistics began to be compiled.
In response, the district operates employment support projects in these two areas to boost young people’s job-seeking motivation and strengthen practical skills by providing customized programs.
The Youth Growth Project targets long-term unemployed individuals who have been jobless for more than six months and youths who have given up on job searching. It offers four stages of tailored support including ▲healing programs such as PT exercise therapy ▲building social networks ▲psychological recovery ▲enhancing job competencies and providing practical experience to help them participate in economic activities.
The Youth Challenge Support Project is a step-by-step support program that includes ▲case management ▲career exploration ▲employment competency consulting. In particular, it runs a ‘Digital Marketing Expert Training Course’ that enables analysis of online markets such as Smart Store and live commerce, strengthening youths’ digital job skills.
The training courses are conducted in short, medium, and long terms, and participants who meet certain requirements can receive participation allowances and incentives worth up to 3.5 million KRW.
Even after completing the programs, the district will continue to provide employment policy guidance to help youths smoothly enter society and will connect them with various employment opportunities such as vocational training and internships.
Choi Ho-kwon, Mayor of Yeongdeungpo-gu, said, “I hope this project will help young people overcome difficulties in finding employment and serve as an opportunity to discover their own careers,” adding, “We will continue to provide practical support so that the youth can enter society stably.”
