As of 6 p.m. on the second day since the fire broke out, 96% of the wildfire in Hallim-myeon, Gimhae-si, Gyeongnam, has been extinguished.
The Central Disaster Response Headquarters of the Korea Forest Service deployed nine firefighting helicopters, 397 personnel, and 40 firefighting vehicles to contain the blaze, but strong winds caused the fire to spread, preventing them from fully controlling the main fire.
So far, the wildfire has affected approximately 90 hectares, and firefighting efforts have been completed on 4.8 kilometers out of a total 5 kilometers of the fire line, leaving only 0.2 kilometers remaining.
At the scene, a southwesterly wind with a speed of 3 meters per second is blowing, with a temperature of 20.8 degrees Celsius and humidity at 27%.
After sunset, the forest authorities and Gyeongnam Province fully mobilized all available ground personnel and equipment, switching to nighttime firefighting operations with plans to continue working through the night to prevent the fire from spreading further.
