Hampyeong County, Jeollanam-do, announced on the 23rd that community hub facilities established to realize sustainable resident autonomy and revitalize the old downtown area have officially begun operations.

The community hub facilities, created as part of the Hampyeong-eup Urban Regeneration New Deal Project, are operated by residents and were established to build a sustainable city centered around the community. Currently, on Jungang-gil, Hampyeong-eup, the following facilities are in operation: Navis Cafe, Navis Store, Nabi Jamjari, and Village Workshop.

The facilities are managed by the Hampyeongcheonji Village Management Social Cooperative, which has been granted permission for use and profit and is entrusted with their operation.

Navis Cafe sells beverages made with local agricultural specialties along with coffee. Its signature menu item is "Ssuk Suratte," made from hydrangea flowers, which are known to help with weight management. Navis Store exhibits and sells processed agricultural products and craft souvenirs from local farms.

The operating hours are from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Nabi Jamjari is an accommodation facility with a total of seven rooms: five double rooms, one quadruple room, and one party room for more than four people. Check-in is available from 11 a.m., and check-out must be completed by 3 p.m. the following day.

The Hampyeongcheonji Village Management Social Cooperative not only operates the businesses but also contributes to community reinvestment projects, aiming to activate a virtuous cycle within the local community through public-private cooperation.

As part of the preliminary urban regeneration projects, community hub facilities are also being operated in each township. In Nasan-myeon, the Nasan-myeon Village Management Social Cooperative runs "Nasan Halmeoni Dabang," while in Haebo-myeon, the Haebo-myeon Kkotmurut Village Management Social Cooperative operates "Kkotmurut Cafe" in the traditional market.

In Hakgyo-myeon, the former Nonghyup Hanaro Mart building has been remodeled, and the Hakgyo-myeon Village Management Social Cooperative operates "Health Dream Cafe," where they have developed and are selling juice made from locally grown figs, a regional specialty.

Lee Sangik, the mayor of Hampyeong County, said, "Urban regeneration projects utilizing local specialized resources are revitalizing the local economy by creating jobs and supporting youth entrepreneurship. We will continue to fully support the discovery and implementation of sustainable policies together with the community."
