The event was held with the attendance of Chairman Jo Seong-dae, Councilor Lee Sang-gi, Councilor Park Yoon-ok, Councilor Jeon Hye-yeon, provincial councilors, Park Byung-sam, President of the Namyangju Badminton Association, and members of the Sudong Badminton Club. The ceremony proceeded in the order of △ awarding certificates of commendation and merit awards △ retirement speeches △ delivery of association approval certificates △ inauguration speeches △ congratulatory speeches from key guests △ cake cutting and group photo session.
Chairman Jo Seong-dae said, “I would like to thank President Kwak Tae-geun for his efforts in developing the club so far, and also extend my congratulations to the newly inaugurated President Kim Young-geun. Although the Sudong Badminton Court had to be inevitably demolished due to aging, our Namyangju City Council promises to do its best in cooperation with related departments to secure an alternative site where club members can exercise while a new badminton court is being constructed.”
He continued, “Although the Hwado, Sudong, and Joan areas account for more than 50% of the total area of Namyangju City, due to various overlapping regulations, the facilities are underdeveloped and even basic infrastructure is lacking compared to other regions of Namyangju City. Namyangju City suffers an annual land value loss of 9.8 trillion won due to water source management area regulations, and this year marks the 50th year since the government designated the water source protection zone,” he explained.
Chairman Jo urged, “Since assuming the chairmanship in the second half of last year, I have been fully committed to the abolition of the Hangang Act, as we can no longer overlook the suffering citizens have endured. I ask for your active participation in raising awareness of the irrationality of these regulations in the future.”
