Seoul Metro has deployed four substitute buses starting at 11:15 a.m. on the 23rd to the section where operations were suspended due to the derailment accident at Sindorim Station on Line 2. Additionally, more buses have been secured, and a total of 11 substitute buses will be operated.

The company has activated the on-site accident response headquarters and is doing its best for a swift recovery through cooperation with related agencies. However, the completion time for accident recovery is uncertain, so it is expected to take some time before normal train operations resume.

A recovery train arrived at the site around 9:05 a.m., and from about 9:35 a.m., the local accident response headquarters was activated, and the Aviation and Railway Accident Investigation Board began investigating the accident. From around 9:51 a.m., the accident recovery team was deployed to the site and has been continuing recovery efforts since 9:53 a.m.

At one point, to ensure the safety of emergency recovery workers, the company cut power to the inner and outer overhead lines of the Sinjeong branch line from about 10:17 a.m. to 10:32 a.m., suspending train operations on the Sinjeong branch line between Gajisan Station and Sindorim Station. Train operations on the Sinjeong branch line resumed from 10:35 a.m.

At around 7:50 a.m. on the 23rd, a train being dispatched at platform 4 of Sindorim Station on Line 2 collided with a buffer stop, causing a derailment. There were no passengers on board except for the train crew operating the train, and no casualties were reported.

A company official said, “We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience caused to subway users and ask that you use alternative transportation for the suspended section. The company will do its best to restore operations as quickly as possible.”
