Yoon Mourns Wildfire Victims: "Government Must Mobilize All Available Resources for Containment"

President Yoon Seok-yeol, facing the imminent ruling on his impeachment trial, expressed condolences for the public officials who lost their lives while fighting the wildfires that caused damage in 30 locations nationwide on the 23rd, and urged the government to expedite the firefighting efforts.

On the morning of the same day, President Yoon posted a message on the social networking service (SNS) Facebook, stating, "I offer my condolences to the four firefighters and public officials who tragically lost their lives during the wildfire suppression efforts."


President Yoon said, "Thanks to the dedicated efforts of the firefighters and public officials, many areas have been quickly brought under control, but there are still five locations where fierce battles are ongoing, and the number of displaced people is increasing, which is truly regrettable."


He continued, "I sincerely offer my sympathies to the displaced people spending the night in shelters and to all victims, and I pray for the safety of the firefighters and public officials."


President Yoon added, "I hope the government and local governments will mobilize all available resources to quickly extinguish the wildfires and provide adequate support to the displaced people."
