Former Gyeongnam Governor Kim Kyung-soo expressed concern on the 23rd about the wildfires that occurred in various places including Gyeongnam, urging thorough response from the authorities.
Through social media (SNS) on the same day, former Governor Kim said, "I heard the heartbreaking news that four public officials and wildfire fighters from Changnyeong County, who were engaged in extinguishing the wildfire in Sancheong, Gyeongnam last night, died, and six others sustained serious injuries," adding, "It pains my heart even more because this happened in Gyeongnam."
He stated, "I will not forget the spirit of sacrifice of those who gave their lives to protect the lives of the people," and "I also extend my condolences to the bereaved families who must be devastated."

Former Governor Kim said, "In addition to the Sancheong area, more than thirty fires have occurred nationwide," and "Many places have not yet been fully extinguished. There must be no further casualties along with swift firefighting."
He added, "Normally, this would be the time when the entire nation's capabilities are focused on firefighting and supporting affected residents," and "I earnestly ask the government authorities to do their best."
Kim, who stopped fasting due to health reasons, said, "I am recovering well in the hospital," and "I will soon be back with the citizens in good health."
