Wildfire in Gimhae... Wildfire Alert Level 1 Issued

While firefighting efforts for the Sancheong wildfire in Gyeongnam continued for a second day, another fire broke out on a hillside in Hallim-myeon, Gimhae-si, at around 2:03 p.m. on the 22nd.

The Korea Forest Service declared Wildfire Level 1 at approximately 4:30 p.m., urgently deploying three firefighting helicopters, eight pieces of firefighting equipment, and 104 personnel to contain the blaze.

Wildfire Level 1 is issued when the expected damage area is between 10 and 30 hectares, the average wind speed is 2 to 4 meters per second or higher, and the expected suppression time is between 3 and 8 hours.

At the site, a southwesterly wind with a speed of 4.3 meters per second was blowing, and the wildfire-affected area was estimated to be 22.4 hectares.

The Central Wildfire Prevention Headquarters of the Korea Forest Service and Gyeongnam Province stated, "We will mobilize all available firefighting personnel and equipment to contain the fire," and added, "We will focus on preventing the spread of the wildfire at an early stage while paying close attention to safety."
