At around 2:20 PM on the 22nd, a fire broke out on a mountain in Ganmae-ri, Gangcheon-myeon, Yeoju-si, Gyeonggi Province.
The forestry authorities are conducting firefighting operations with five helicopters and 36 personnel.
As the fire spread, Yeoju-si sent a safety text message stating, "The wildfire is spreading, so hikers on Magamsan and Bogomsan in Gangcheon-myeon should quickly descend and move to a safe area." They plan to restrict access to the hiking trails on the affected mountain.
The Korea Forest Service raised the national wildfire disaster crisis alert to the "Severe" level at 3:30 PM for the Chungcheong, Honam, and Yeongnam regions.
At the same time, the crisis alert for Seoul, Incheon, Gyeonggi, and Gangwon regions was raised from "Caution" to "Warning."
