As of 10:30 a.m. on the 22nd, about 70% of the wildfire that broke out in Sicheon-myeon, Sancheong-gun, South Gyeongsang Province at 3:26 p.m. on the 21st has been extinguished.


The South Gyeongsang provincial government and the Korea Forest Service announced that 41 firefighting helicopters, 1,344 personnel, and 121 pieces of equipment have been deployed to contain the fire.


According to the forestry authorities, out of a total fire line of 15.8 kilometers, 11 kilometers have been extinguished, and efforts are ongoing for the remaining 4.8 kilometers.


Fire and forestry authorities are focusing on extinguishing the fire by spraying fire retardant (retardant) on the ridge of the mountain summit and in the main direction of the fire's spread.


At the site, a westerly wind is blowing at 1 meter per second, with a temperature of 13.9 degrees Celsius and humidity at 33%.


The Central Wildfire Prevention Headquarters of the Korea Forest Service stated, "We will do our utmost to prevent the spread of the wildfire and focus on extinguishing the main fire by mobilizing all available aerial and ground resources, so as to prevent any loss of life or property."


The South Gyeongsang provincial government added, "By deploying additional helicopters and reallocating personnel, we will complete the main fire line extinguishing and cleanup of remaining embers within the morning and minimize further damage."
