Gimcheon City Holds Secretariat Chiefs' Council
for Gyeongbuk City and County Sports Associations

With 50 days left until the opening of the 63rd Gyeongbuk Provincial Sports Festival, Gimcheon City has entered the final stages of preparation for the successful hosting of the event.

On the 20th, Gimcheon City held a meeting of the secretariat chiefs of the sports associations from 22 cities and counties in Gyeongbuk at the seminar room of the Gimcheon City Museum, discussing event operations and cooperation plans.


About 30 officials attended the meeting, including the Deputy Mayor of Gimcheon, the President of the Gimcheon Sports Association, and the Secretary-General of the Gyeongsangbuk-do Sports Association.


The participants reviewed the entry method for the athletes at the opening ceremony and the overall management of the games, and also conducted the 2024 settlement and the selection of executive members for the secretariat chiefs' council.


Choi Soongo, Acting Mayor of Gimcheon, emphasized, "Gimcheon has excellent sports infrastructure and extensive experience in hosting events. If the officials from each city and county sports association cooperate actively, this will be the best event ever."


He added, "We will do our utmost to ensure that the Provincial Sports Festival becomes a catalyst for the development of sports in Gyeongbuk."


Choi Handong, President of the Gimcheon Sports Association, said, "We will prioritize the convenience of participating athletes and citizens, and create a successful event through smooth communication and cooperation. I ask for your active interest and participation so that this Provincial Sports Festival can become a celebration that showcases the potential of Gyeongbuk."


Meanwhile, the 63rd Gyeongbuk Provincial Sports Festival will be held for four days from May 9 to 12 at Gimcheon Sports Complex and various sports venues, and the 27th Gyeongsangbuk-do Para Sports Festival will take place for two days from May 22 to 23.
