Nongshim Stock Price on the Rise
Jennie of the group BLACKPINK, who recently released her solo album, mentioned Nongshim's Banana Kick as her favorite snack on a popular American talk show. Following this, Nongshim's stock price showed an upward trend.
On the 10th, Jennie appeared on the popular North American talk show The Jennifer Hudson Show to promote her first solo album, RUBY. Later, on the 14th (local time), a video titled “JENNIE: ‘I Love You, Doechii!’ Extended Interview” was uploaded on the YouTube channel ‘Jennifer Hudson Show’.
On that day, Jennifer Hudson asked Jennie, "I'll show you my favorite Chicago snack first, so please introduce a Korean snack as well."
Jennie introduced her favorite Korean snacks: Nongshim Shrimp Crackers, Banana Kick, and Orion Whale Snack. She especially praised Banana Kick, saying, “This is my favorite snack,” and added, “It’s really delicious. You can taste a special banana flavor that’s different from what you expect.”
Jennifer Hudson, after tasting Banana Kick, also said, "This is really unique? The texture is really distinctive. I don’t know how to describe it... Can I have one more?" showing her addiction and making everyone laugh.
Nongshim quickly responded. On the 19th, Nongshim posted a scene from the talk show personifying their products Banana Kick and Shrimp Crackers on their official SNS. In the post, Banana Kick appeared boastful, saying, “I got a solo shot for 5 seconds (thanks to Jennie).”
The snacks Jennie mentioned became a global trend on social media, gaining explosive attention. In particular, Nongshim’s stock price rose for four consecutive trading days this week, resulting in a market capitalization increase of 264 billion KRW as of the 20th.
Meanwhile, Jennie’s Ruby ranked 9th on the US Apple Music ‘Top Albums’ chart, marking the highest and first position for a K-pop solo artist, making her the highest-ranking female K-pop solo artist. After entering Spotify’s ‘Daily Top Songs Global’ chart at 12th place, she has rapidly climbed to 7th, maintaining her unstoppable popularity.
Not only the title track but also all the tracks on Ruby, including the pre-released songs ‘Handlebars (feat. Dua Lipa)’, ‘ExtraL (feat. Doechii)’, and ‘Love Hangover (feat. Dominic Fike)’, are well-loved and occupy high positions on major charts.
