Improved Agricultural Product Quality with 5G Smart Control Technology
On the 21st, Andong City in North Gyeongsang Province held an opening ceremony for the Agricultural Logistics Demonstration Center (APC) at the Gyeongbuk Bio 2nd General Industrial Complex and officially began its operations.
Kwon Kichang, Mayor of Andong (eighth from the left), along with Kim Kyungdo, Chairman of the City Council (ninth), and other officials, are conducting the ribbon-cutting ceremony at the opening of the Agricultural Logistics Demonstration Center in Andong, Gyeongbuk on the 21st.
About 100 people attended the event, including Kwon Gichang, Mayor of Andong, Jeong Gubong, Deputy Director of the Korea Institute of Robot Convergence, provincial and city council members, business representatives, and local residents.
The Agricultural Logistics Demonstration Center is a state-of-the-art facility selected as a project by the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs in 2022, with a total investment of 26.5 billion KRW (including 20.757 billion KRW in national funds).
The center consists of an experimental building (143,553㎡) and a research building (16,480㎡), and is equipped with automated workstations and cold storage facilities.
In particular, the application of artificial intelligence (AI)-based robotics technology and a 5G smart control system enables the automation of tasks such as measuring the sugar content and sorting the weight of various agricultural products.
Through this, the quality of fresh agricultural products is expected to improve further, and logistics efficiency is expected to be maximized. In addition, it is anticipated to contribute to reducing operating costs and increasing farmers' income.
Mayor Kwon Gichang of Andong said, "With the opening of the Agricultural Logistics Demonstration Center, I hope Andong will grow into a leading hub for smart agriculture and logistics innovation," adding, "We will do our best to enhance the competitiveness of local agriculture in cooperation with research institutes and companies."
