The National Academy of Engineering of Korea announced on the 21st that it held the 1st extraordinary board meeting at the Westin Chosun Hotel in Jung-gu, Seoul, and elected Shin Hak-cheol, Vice Chairman of LG Chem, as the new chairman of the board.
Shin, who will serve his term until March 2027, worked at 3M for over 30 years and served as Executive Vice President. Since 2019, he has been serving as Vice Chairman and CEO of LG Chem.
Chairman Shin stated, "On the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the founding of the National Academy of Engineering, I will propose a more long-term development direction for the academy," adding, "To this end, I will redefine the composition, roles, and governance of the board of directors and ensure that the board actively contributes to the development of the academy."
