‘Jangheung Musan Gim’, produced in the Jangheung sea, which has been designated as the nation’s only clean tidal flat ecological industry special zone, obtained the world’s largest ASC-MSC international organic certification for seaweed in 2022, a first in Korea. With this organic certification, it is gradually gaining competitiveness in the global market.

In particular, after being selected as a ‘Seaweed Industry Promotion Zone’ in a project organized by the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries, the county secured a project fund of 5 billion KRW, further strengthening competitiveness across the entire seaweed industry, including production, aquaculture, processing, and distribution.

Governor Kim Sung stated, “Jangheung Musan Gim accounts for 56% of the region’s agricultural and marine product exports and is an important source of local income,” adding, “We plan to pursue various initiatives to increase fishermen’s income, such as modernizing facilities and expanding distribution networks for the development of the local fisheries industry.”
