On the 20th, Yoon posted on his Facebook under the title "Egg-throwing incident in front of the Constitutional Court requires a fair investigation," saying, "The police must uncover the truth through a thorough and impartial investigation without prejudice."
On that day, during a press conference in front of the Constitutional Court in Jongno-gu, Seoul, urging the swift dismissal of President Yoon, lawmaker Baek was hit by a raw egg thrown from the opposite sidewalk. At the time, supporters of President Yoon holding Taegeukgi and the U.S. flag were present on the sidewalk. The police reportedly have not secured the suspect at the scene and are currently tracking them down.
Regarding this, lawmaker Yoon emphasized, "This is an act that threatens democracy and cannot be tolerated under any circumstances," adding, "The police must promptly apprehend the suspect through a thorough investigation."
However, he pointed out, "Before apprehending the suspect, the police deployed riot police to forcibly disperse citizens protesting near the Constitutional Court," and "There have been continuous reports that supporters of President Yoon, who were peacefully participating in the rally, were injured due to excessive suppression during this process."
He continued, "The exercise of public authority must be balanced and fair, and no particular group should suffer unjust harm," asserting, "I have faced these individuals (President Yoon’s supporters) daily, day and night in front of the Constitutional Court. They are not people who would engage in violent behavior. They gathered solely out of a pure concern for the Republic of Korea."
Lawmaker Yoon concluded, "I ask the public to refrain from making hasty judgments and to watch closely so that the police can maintain their focus and conduct a calm investigation."
