Selection of 40 Apartment Complexes
Up to 500,000 KRW in Support
Seo-gu, Gwangju City (District Mayor Kim Ikang) announced on the 21st that it will strengthen fire prevention and response capabilities at electric vehicle charging stations.
With the full implementation of the ordinance enacted last year regarding fire prevention and safety facility support for electric vehicle exclusive parking zones, Seo-gu plans to minimize damage caused by fires by promoting support projects for the installation of safety equipment such as detectors, fire extinguishers, and fire suppression blankets, as well as disaster prevention facilities.

Seo-gu will allocate a total budget of 20 million KRW, selecting 40 apartment complexes with more than 50 parking spaces and over 100 households, providing up to 500,000 KRW each in support.
Applications for support will be accepted throughout next month. Interested parties can refer to the notices on the Seo-gu Office website and submit the required documents either in person or by mail to the Seo-gu Office Climate and Environment Division. Nam Munhyo, head of the Climate and Environment Division, stated, "We will do our best to prepare various measures and provide support for fire prevention so that a safe residential environment can be established, free from the risk of fires at electric vehicle charging facilities."
Meanwhile, Seo-gu is also focusing on resident safety by installing firefighting facilities and safety equipment around charging stations at local administrative welfare centers and public parking lots.
