Victim Claims "Received the State Affairs Manipulation Tablet PC as Collateral"
Jung Yuyeon (formerly Jung Yura, 29), the daughter of Choi Seo-won (formerly Choi Soon-sil, 69), who is imprisoned for the 'state affairs manipulation' scandal, has been sent to the prosecution on charges of borrowing and not repaying several hundred million won from an acquaintance.
According to Yonhap News on the 21st, the Southern Police Station of Namyangju sent Jung to the prosecution on charges of fraud under the Act on the Aggravated Punishment of Specific Economic Crimes. Jung is accused of borrowing a total of 698 million won from an acquaintance between 2022 and 2023 and failing to repay it.
The victim's side claimed that Jung borrowed money, stating that she needed funds for her mother's lawyer fees and hospital bills, and provided a tablet PC, which JTBC had obtained and reported during the state affairs manipulation investigation, as collateral.
The tablet PC was kept by the prosecution investigating the case. Later, in 2023, after Choi's side filed and won a lawsuit against the state requesting the return of the device for independent verification, it is known that Jung had possession of it.
An official from the investigative agency stated, "We were aware of the claim regarding the collateral, but since it is not directly related to the case, we have not separately investigated its authenticity."
