Gwangju Dong-gu (District Mayor Lim Taek) announced on the 21st that the public library Book Garden will operate a book curation program called "Words of Bookstores" in collaboration with local bookstores, aiming to promote a reading culture among residents and revitalize the local economy.
"Words of Bookstores" is designed to help citizens gain a deeper understanding of selected books by providing book reviews alongside book displays, and to offer opportunities for citizens to become more familiar with local bookstores by sharing information such as their locations and operating hours.
The participating local bookstores include: ▲Book and Life - "The Mind to Start 2025" ▲This Is Not a Bookstore - "Remaking the World" ▲Boy's Book - "This City Is Too Chaotic" ▲Dongmyeong 1974 - "Finding Answers to Life Through Thought and Sensation" ▲Manbok Bookstore·Daeyang Seolim - "For Inner and Outer Health" ▲Gwangwoo Books - "Though Everyday Life Is Exhausting, We Still Have Travel," and others.
These bookstores will each select 34 themed books every two months, and the first set of curated books, chosen by "Book and Life" this February, can be found at the book curation corner on the second floor of Book Garden until the end of this month.
