Following the championship win by the KCC Egis basketball team last season, Busan has once again proven itself as a traditional basketball stronghold this year with BNK SUM's victory.

BNK SUM basketball team was founded in June 2019 with Busan as its home base and shares Sajik Indoor Gymnasium as its home court with the KCC Egis basketball team. The city is making efforts to fully renovate the Sajik Indoor Gymnasium, the home of professional basketball, for the convenience of both players and spectators.

The city has carried out facility improvement projects to enhance the viewing environment for Busan citizens and improve the performance of Busan's professional basketball teams, including a complete replacement of the main court floor, installation of a new electronic scoreboard, replacement of movable seats, and installation of concession stands.

Mayor Park Hyungjoon stated, "The BNK SUM basketball team, based in Busan, has made glorious history by winning its first championship since its founding, instilling pride in Busan citizens and laying the groundwork for the development of local sports. Busan City will continue to promote the development of sports in the region through various sports policies and improve sports facility environments so that all Busan citizens can comfortably and safely enjoy sports anytime, anywhere, making Busan a 'paradise city for everyday sports.'"
