Yeongju City, Gyeongbuk Province, announced on the 21st that it had sprayed wild boar repellents in the Pyeongeun-myeon area adjacent to ASF-affected regions, in cooperation with the Yeongju branch of the Pureun Environmental Preservation Association, to block the introduction of African Swine Fever (ASF).

This measure is a proactive response to prevent damage to local pig farms by controlling the movement of wild boars, which are the main carriers of ASF. With continuous ASF infection cases occurring in nearby areas recently, the city is further strengthening its border regions and plans to intensively spray repellents around wild boar habitats and near farms.

An official from Yeongju City stated, "ASF is a fatal livestock infectious disease with a very high risk of spreading through wild boars," and added, "We will do our best to restrict wild boar movement and prevent the occurrence of ASF in the region through this repellent spraying."

The city is operating a hazardous wild animal damage prevention team to respond to wild boar sightings and damage reports, and is implementing various ASF prevention measures. In addition, the city urged citizens to report any wild boar sightings immediately, and emphasized that livestock farms must strictly adhere to quarantine regulations.
