On the 21st, Gwangmyeong City Hall held a signing ceremony for the 'ESG Implementation Agreement for a Sustainable Future' with the Korea Racing Authority Gwangmyeong Branch and the Environmental Health Technology Institute in the city hall's medium conference room. Through this agreement, the two organizations joined the 'Gwangmyeong ESG Action Team' operated by the city to practice Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) management and participate in solving local issues and development by utilizing available resources and information.
Launched in December last year, the 'Gwangmyeong ESG Action Team' is a public-private cooperation network that promotes the circulation of wealth by utilizing local assets through collaboration between the city, public institutions, and companies, contributing to solving local community problems with a local asset-based ESG practice. With this new membership, the number of institutions in the action team has increased to 17.
According to the agreement, the Korea Racing Authority will strengthen its existing cooperative projects with Gwangmyeong City, such as supporting vulnerable groups and participating in local autonomous organizations and events. The Environmental Health Technology Institute plans to support the promotion of key environmental policies in Gwangmyeong City, including resource circulation promotion and achieving carbon neutrality.
Park Seung-won, mayor of Gwangmyeong City, said, "Cooperation with the two organizations will strengthen the realization of Gwangmyeong-style ESG," adding, "We will continue to work closely with various stakeholders to lead sustainable development."
