Up to 9.11 Million KRW Subsidy
for 662 Electric Passenger Cars
On the 21st, Icheon City in Gyeonggi Province announced that it will provide a total of 9.7 billion KRW in purchase subsidies for 943 eco-friendly vehicles, including electric and hydrogen cars, during the first half of the year.
The subsidy recipients under the 'Eco-friendly Vehicle Distribution Project' include ▲662 electric passenger cars ▲191 electric cargo trucks ▲90 hydrogen passenger cars.
By vehicle type, the detailed subsidy recipients for electric passenger cars are ▲530 general ▲66 priority ▲66 taxis. For electric cargo trucks, the allocation is ▲115 general ▲19 priority ▲38 delivery ▲19 small and medium enterprise-produced vehicles. Hydrogen passenger cars include ▲81 general ▲9 priority vehicles.
Applicants must be individuals aged 18 or older who have had a continuous residence in Icheon for at least one month as of the application date, or corporations/businesses with offices in Icheon. When applicants wishing to apply for the purchase subsidy visit a car dealership and sign a purchase contract, the manufacturer or importer applies for the subsidy from the city.
The purchase subsidy is provided differentially according to vehicle type and options, with passenger cars receiving up to 9.11 million KRW and cargo trucks up to 22.88 million KRW. The subsidy amount for hydrogen passenger cars is 32.5 million KRW.
For electric passenger cars, young people aged 19 to 34 purchasing for the first time in their life receive an additional 20% subsidy. Farmers purchasing electric cargo trucks can also receive an additional 10% subsidy.
