The inspection will focus on sections with a high risk of disasters among 324 forest road facilities (total length 1,734 km) near residential areas in 13 cities and counties (excluding Jeonju). The main inspection items include: ▲ subsidence of forest road surfaces ▲ risk of collapse of cut-and-fill slopes ▲ condition of drainage facilities and side ditches ▲ damage to other structures, etc.
In particular, for cut-and-fill slope sections that are difficult to access, drones will be used for precise inspections to minimize blind spots and to conduct a more systematic safety diagnosis.
Minor issues identified during the inspection will be addressed immediately on site, and facilities requiring repair or reinforcement will undergo prompt safety measures based on expert consultation.
Song Kyungho, Director of the Jeonbuk Forest Environment Research Institute, stated, "During the thawing season, the ground becomes weak and the risk of slope collapse and other safety accidents increases. Through this inspection, we will do our best to eliminate risk factors in advance so that residents can use the forest roads with peace of mind." He added, "If residents using the forest roads notice any signs of danger such as slope collapse, please report them immediately to the city or county forestry department or the Jeonbuk Forest Environment Research Institute."
