Jungnang-gu Begins Spring Park Environment Maintenance

Jungnang-gu (District Mayor Ryu Kyung-gi) has begun park environment maintenance in preparation for the spring thaw season.

First, from March 20 to April 10, the district will conduct a "Barrier-Free Forest Trail Safety Inspection" to ensure that residents can safely use the barrier-free forest trails.

The "Barrier-Free Forest Trail" is a walking path designed with a slope of no more than 8.3% to improve accessibility for residents. The path is made with flat wooden decks, allowing wheelchair users to easily follow the trail up to the ridgeline.

From 2014 to 2022, the district developed the Yongmasan Footpath (4.2 km) and Bonghwasan Companion Trail (4.3 km), establishing barrier-free forest trails that anyone, regardless of age or gender, can conveniently use. These trails have become a popular destination visited by over 1.2 million people annually. Through this safety inspection, the district plans to create an even safer environment for users.

The inspection will focus on checking ▲decay and damage of wooden flooring ▲corrosion of steel structures ▲cracks in structural foundations (concrete). Repairs and reinforcements will be carried out immediately based on the inspection results.

Additionally, from March 17 to 21, the district will conduct a spring cleaning campaign targeting parks, green spaces, and village squares. Approximately 150 personnel will participate in activities such as ▲garbage collection ▲drainage maintenance ▲facility cleaning.

Convenience facilities and sports equipment frequently used by residents, such as pergolas, benches, and exercise equipment, will also undergo a thorough inspection.

Ryu Kyung-gi, Mayor of Jungnang-gu, stated, "We are conducting thorough inspections and cleaning to improve the safety and environment of parks and barrier-free forest trails used by many residents. We will do our best to create a clean and safe park environment so that residents can comfortably enjoy the spring atmosphere."
