Autonomous Buses to Run from Daedeok Innopolis to Sejong...Kickoff Briefing Held at KAIST Groundbreaking Report Meeting for Autonomous Driving Commercialization Zone Project Held at KAIST on the 20th / Daejeon City

Daejeon City announced that on the 20th, it held a kick-off meeting for the Autonomous Driving Commercialization Zone Project at the Electronics and Telecommunications Research Institute (ETRI).


The meeting was attended by Nam Sideok, Director of the Daejeon City Transportation Bureau, Choi Jeongdan, Director of the Electronics and Telecommunications Research Institute, as well as representatives and researchers from participating organizations such as Move2 Co., Ltd., Tesla System Co., Ltd., Cuba Co., Ltd., and Altist Co., Ltd. They shared the direction of the project and pledged cooperation.


The city plans to introduce an autonomous passenger transportation service connected to the Chungcheong region's metropolitan public transportation network, aiming to operate autonomous buses on the route from Daedeok Special Zone to Banseok Station to Sejong Terminal (26.9 km).


To this end, a total of 3.9 billion KRW will be invested over 49 months until December 2028 to promote the Autonomous Driving Commercialization Zone Project. Infrastructure will be established over 12 months until November this year, followed by 37 months of operation and demonstration from December to December 2028.


Nam Sideok, Director of the Daejeon City Transportation Bureau, stated, "Today marks an important moment as Daejeon City takes its first significant step toward the era of autonomous public transportation. Through the Autonomous Driving Commercialization Zone Project, we will set a new standard for future transportation and create an opportunity for Daejeon to leap forward as a smart mobility city."
