Court Extends Detention Period Until the 31st
The detention period for Myung Jae-wan (48), a teacher who murdered 8-year-old Kim Ha-neul with a weapon at an elementary school in Daejeon, has been extended until the 31st of this month.

On the 20th, the Daejeon District Court announced that it approved the prosecution's request to extend the detention period for Myung, who is accused of violating the Act on the Aggravated Punishment, etc. of Specific Crimes (abduction and luring of a person under 13 years old) and other charges.
Myung, who was detained on the 12th, was originally scheduled to be held until the 21st, but the court extended the detention by ten days until the 31st of this month.
Myung is accused of murdering Kim at an elementary school in Daejeon on the 10th of last month with a weapon. According to the police, around 6 p.m. that day, Kim, who had been stabbed, and Myung, the teacher who attempted self-harm, were found on the second floor of an elementary school building in Gwanjeo-dong, Seo-gu, Daejeon. Myung, who had injuries on his wrist and neck, was transported to a hospital and underwent surgery, during which he confessed to the crime before the operation.
