Daegu Police Launches 'Future Public Safety Implementation TF'

Daegu Metropolitan Police Agency is leading the future of public safety by utilizing advanced drone technology. On the 19th, the agency conducted a joint drone patrol test flight at Daegu Lions Park in preparation for the KBO professional baseball season opener, officially launching efforts to strengthen public safety.

Real-time monitoring to ease traffic congestion and ensure safety. Approximately 24,000 spectators are expected to gather for the professional baseball season opener scheduled for the 22nd. Accordingly, the police plan to focus on alleviating traffic congestion and preventing safety accidents caused by large crowds through real-time monitoring of congested situations using drones.


◆ Launch of the 'Future Public Safety Implementation TF'

Expanding scientific policing capabilities. The Daegu Metropolitan Police Agency has launched the 'Future Public Safety Implementation TF (headed by Senior Superintendent Kim Kanghyun)' to actively utilize drone technology in the field of public safety. In addition to searching for missing persons and disaster situations, the agency plans to expand the use of drones to traffic management, crime prevention patrols, and further to broader patrols for traffic and crime prevention.


The core goal of the TF is to 'protect the peaceful daily lives of citizens' amid rapidly changing social, economic, and technological environments. To achieve this, the agency is focusing on strengthening scientific policing policies and establishing optimal response systems.


◆ "Building a future public safety infrastructure based on cutting-edge technology"

Lee Seunghyup, Chief of Daegu Metropolitan Police Agency, stated, "The importance of scientific policing is increasing as we strive to overcome the limitations of police activities in a rapidly changing security environment." He added, "With the launch of the 'Future Public Safety Implementation TF,' we will take the lead in securing future public safety infrastructure by establishing various scientific policing systems, including not only drone technology but also AI, smart equipment, and the development of advanced investigative techniques."
