Gyeonggi Province Governor Kim Dong-yeon called for the immediate impeachment of Yoon Seok-yeol, the swift promotion of an additional supplementary budget, and the appointment and dispatch of an economic plenipotentiary ambassador to prevent South Korea's economic crisis.
On the 20th, Governor Kim posted on his social media (SNS), saying, "Every day my heart burns with anxiety," and firmly stated, "What the people are waiting for is not the impeachment trial of Han Duck-soo, but the impeachment trial of Yoon Seok-yeol."
He continued, "As the impeachment is delayed, our economic stamina is gradually being depleted," diagnosing, "Our economy is currently facing a ‘triple crisis’."
In particular, he said, "The economic backtracking of the Yoon Seok-yeol administration, the Trump storm, and political uncertainty are overlapping," adding, "The bills sent by Trump keep piling up, and 97% of companies are despairing, saying an economic crisis is coming."
Furthermore, he warned, "If this continues, we will face a ‘second IMF crisis’," and emphasized, "Only the swift acceptance of impeachment is the starting point to revive the economy."
He also said, "Though I hate to even imagine it, if the impeachment is dismissed, the Korean economy will face a horrific level of ‘economic Armageddon’ never experienced before," and questioned, "Who would invest or trust in a country that issues martial law licenses?"
Moreover, he added, "(South Korea) will not only remain a ‘sensitive country’ but will fall into a ‘rogue state’," and stressed, "To prevent the economic crisis, the ‘three major measures’ of immediate impeachment, swift supplementary budget, and appointment of an economic plenipotentiary ambassador are urgent."
