Sister City Agreement Signed Between Seongnam and Mungyeong
Cooperation in the Fourth Industrial Revolution, Tourism, and Culture for Mutual Development
Seongnam City, Gyeonggi Province (Mayor Shin Sang-jin) signed a sister city agreement with Mungyeong City, Gyeongsangbuk-do on the 20th to promote friendship, exchange, and mutual development.

The signing ceremony was held at 2 p.m. in the 4th floor, Conference Room 1 of Seongnam City Hall, attended by Seongnam Mayor Shin Sang-jin and Mungyeong Mayor Shin Hyun-guk, among others.
The main contents of the agreement include △ cooperation and project discovery for fostering the 4th industrial revolution and new growth engine businesses △ enhancement of citizens' leisure culture and activation of tourism resources through arts, festivals, and performances, along with discovering practical benefits for use △ exchange of information on excellent administrative policies △ activation and promotion of direct transactions of outstanding local agricultural and specialty products △ promotion of private exchanges in fields such as youth, education, and sports.
Specific implementation plans will be prepared through future working-level consultations.
Seongnam Mayor Shin Sang-jin said, “Let us cooperate to improve the quality of life for citizens by sharing and utilizing to the fullest extent the valuable cultural heritage such as Saejae Provincial Park and the Traditional Tea Bowl Festival of Mungyeong City, along with Seongnam City's advanced industries and resources each region possesses.”
He added, “We expect mutual development through revitalizing exchanges in the 4th industry, tourism, and culture,” and said, “With the opening of the KTX Jungbu Naeryuk Line (Pangyo~Mungyeong), the movement and exchange between citizens of both cities will become more active.”
Mungyeong Mayor Shin Hyun-guk said, “We will strengthen cooperation in various fields such as culture and arts, youth exchange, and sales and promotion of local agricultural and specialty products to achieve regional development.”
Since the inauguration of Mayor Shin Sang-jin in the 8th term of local government, domestic sister city agreements have been made with Wonju City, Gangwon Special Self-Governing Province, Namwon City, Jeonbuk Special Self-Governing Province, and Damyang County, Jeollanam-do, making this the fourth.
As a result, the number of cities and counties that have formed sister city relationships with Seongnam City has increased to a total of 12.
