Korea Student Aid Foundation Selects 30 New High School Students for Overseas Study... Provides $60,000 Annually for Tuition and Living Expenses

The Korea Student Aid Foundation (Chairman Bae Byungil) plans to select new recipients for the 2025 Overseas Study Scholarship for Outstanding High School Students (Dream Scholarship).


The application period runs from the 20th until 6:00 PM on April 16. Eligible applicants are second and third-year domestic high school students from basic livelihood recipient or near-poor households who have excellent academic records and wish to study abroad. Detailed eligibility requirements and application procedures can be found on the Korea Student Aid Foundation website.

For 2025, new scholarship recipients will be selected through document screening and interviews, with up to 30 students chosen, including five from industry-customized and specialized high schools. The Overseas Study Scholarship for Outstanding High School Students (Dream Scholarship) can be applied for directly by students on the Korea Student Aid Foundation website.


The Overseas Study Scholarship for Outstanding High School Students (Dream Scholarship) program has been supporting global talent since 2012. As of 2025, 149 students have received support, and 103 have advanced to nine countries around the world.


The Korea Student Aid Foundation provides selected second and third-year high school students with a monthly academic encouragement allowance of 500,000 to 700,000 KRW, offers one-on-one counseling, holds study abroad information sessions in cooperation with embassies, and plans to provide tailored study abroad counseling to help students gain admission to prestigious overseas universities.


Additionally, international students can receive up to $60,000 per year for tuition and living expenses, and those with outstanding academic performance are eligible for additional scholarship support, allowing them to focus solely on their studies.


Bae Byungil, Chairman of the Korea Student Aid Foundation, stated, "I hope that many outstanding high school students from low-income families who dream of becoming global talent will show interest in and apply for the Dream Scholarship," and added, "I look forward to seeing them advance to prestigious universities abroad and realize their dreams on the world stage."
