Chonnam National University Hospital (Director Shin Jung) announced on the 20th that it has introduced the 'Azurion (Philips Azurion 7B1212)', an ultra-precise angiography imaging device.

The opening ceremony, held recently in front of the Cardiovascular Center on the 6th floor of Building 7, was attended by Director Shin Jung, Cardiovascular Center Director Hong Youngjun, Professor Ahn Younggeun, and other related staff. The cardiac catheterization lab is a space where catheters are inserted into the heart to diagnose and treat cardiovascular diseases, allowing observation and treatment of the heart and blood vessels. With the introduction of this new equipment, the number of cardiac catheterization labs at Chonnam National University Hospital has increased to five.

The newly introduced 'Azurion' can reduce radiation exposure by up to 80% compared to existing equipment. It also allows imaging of a wider area with a single use of contrast agent, thereby reducing the amount of contrast agent required. Additionally, it is equipped with a large 12-inch detector screen that displays blood vessels, enabling medical staff to view a wide area of blood vessels on a single screen. It also provides overlay images, which show the current vascular image over moving vessels.

Other features include a touchscreen that controls the Azurion equipment and applications, FlexVision Pro for adjusting or setting real-time images during procedures, ProcedureCards for customizing procedure preparation steps, and FlexSpot, which allows integrated management of multiple computers and hardware in the control room with just two monitors. These features help reduce procedure time and enable efficient diagnosis and treatment by medical staff.

Hong Youngjun, Director of the Cardiovascular Center at Chonnam National University Hospital, said, "With the introduction of Azurion, we expect to enhance patient safety and provide more accurate diagnosis and treatment for our patients."
