Jeonbuk Fire Headquarters Implements 'Emergency Rescue Measures for Farming Season'

Expansion of Publicity for Agricultural Machinery Accident Prevention
and Safety Education Training

The Jeonbuk Special Self-Governing Province Fire Headquarters (Chief Lee Osuk) is implementing an 'Emergency Rescue Plan for the Farming Season' to prevent safety accidents caused by increased use of agricultural machinery and to ensure a swift response to accidents during the farming season.

According to the Jeonbuk Fire Headquarters on the 20th, there have been a total of 445 agricultural machinery accidents in the province over the past three years, with 144 cases (32.4%) occurring in the spring (March to May).

There were also 141 cases (31.7%) in the autumn (September to November), indicating that accidents occur frequently during busy farming periods.

The main types of accidents include overturning of cultivators, grass trimmers, and tractors; entrapment in machinery; and falls from steep slopes or into drainage ditches. The primary causes have been identified as carelessness during work, lack of proficiency in operating machinery, and failure to wear safety equipment.

The Jeonbuk Fire Headquarters has established an emergency rescue plan to prevent agricultural machinery accidents and ensure a swift response, and will implement the following key measures.

The Fire Headquarters plans to strengthen publicity for accident prevention by putting up banners and posters in village halls and along major agricultural machinery routes to raise awareness among residents. Accident prevention messages will also be continuously delivered through village broadcasts and electronic displays.

Additionally, safety education and training will be expanded. Regular agricultural machinery safety accident prevention training will be provided to local volunteer firefighters and village heads, and practical accident response training will be conducted in cooperation with the Agricultural Technology Education Center.

Function checks and proficiency training for agricultural machinery rescue equipment such as hydraulic spreaders and cutters will also be reinforced to enable a rapid rescue response.

In the event of an agricultural machinery accident, three or more fire vehicles, including pump trucks, rescue trucks, and ambulances, will be dispatched simultaneously to ensure swift rescue operations. The headquarters will also work closely with tow truck and large crane companies to ensure smooth rescue operations in the event of a major accident.

Chief Lee Osuk of the Fire Headquarters stated, "With the start of the farming season, we will prioritize the safety of farmers and do our utmost to prevent accidents," and added, "We ask that farmers also strictly follow safety guidelines to prevent accidents in advance."
