Two Young Artists in Traditional Art to Be Selected by the 26th
Support for Creative Space, Exhibitions, and Open Studios
Gwangju Buk-gu announced on the 20th that it will support creative spaces for local young artists.
Buk-gu is recruiting young artists to move into the residence at the Gwangju Traditional Craft Culture School until the 26th. The residence at the Gwangju Traditional Craft Culture School is a creative space established by Buk-gu to provide free workspaces to local young artists and to support exchanges among artists. Resident young artists will also have opportunities to participate in programs such as open studios and exhibitions.
Eligible applicants are young people (aged 19 to 39) residing in Gwangju and active in the field of traditional art (such as painting or crafts). Those who have lived in Gwangju for more than three years or have graduated from an art college located in Gwangju are eligible to apply. Applicants residing in Buk-gu will receive additional points. University and graduate students, as well as those who already have a personal studio, are excluded from applying.
The selection process will include a document and portfolio review, followed by interviews, and two people will be finally selected. The selected young artists will use the workspace on the third floor of the Gwangju Traditional Craft Culture School from June until March next year, and will also receive support for open studios and exhibitions during their residency.
The application documents can be found on the Buk-gu Office website and should be submitted to the Buk-gu Office Department of Culture and Arts in person, by mail, or by email.
Mayor Moon In said, "As this project supports free creative activities and the formation of networks, we hope to see active participation from many local young artists."
