Busan Aviation High School Aircraft Technology Training Center Receives Approval from Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport

Complete 2,410 Hours Over Three Years at the Education Center
Obtain an Aircraft Maintenance Engineer License

The Busan Metropolitan Office of Education announced on the 18th that the Aviation Technology Education Center at Busan Aviation High School (Principal: Moon Sangdae) has been officially approved by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport.

This marks the first time in Busan that a secondary education institution has opened a pathway for obtaining an aircraft maintenance engineer license.

Busan Aviation High School was established in March last year as the first Busan Meister High School, in line with the plan to foster specialized high schools of excellence to prepare for the opening of Gadeok New Airport and to bridge educational gaps. The school aims to nurture talent in the aviation sector based on local settlement.

Since its opening, the school and the Office of Education have secured outstanding industry instructors and established 23 standard practice rooms, including an aircraft engine maintenance room, in accordance with relevant laws such as the Aviation Safety Act, in order to obtain approval for the Aviation Technology Education Center.

After completing the infrastructure, including securing more than 150 types of aviation training equipment and three actual aircraft, the school underwent both a document and on-site evaluation by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport in February of this year and has now received official approval.

With this approval, students at Busan Aviation High School will be able to take courses in the "Aircraft Maintenance Engineer Course: Airplane Track," covering aviation law, general maintenance, airframe, aircraft engines, electronics, electricity, and instruments.

This program consists of a total of 2,410 hours, including 1,310 hours of theory and 1,100 hours of practical training. Through this, students can acquire aircraft maintenance skills and obtain an aircraft maintenance engineer license.

So far, the Busan Metropolitan Office of Education has signed MOUs with Korea Aerospace Industries Co., Ltd. and the Republic of Korea Navy Headquarters to establish and operate Busan Aviation High School as the nation’s leading aviation technology school.

In the first half of this year, the school plans to strengthen cooperation with domestic aviation-related institutions and leading companies to support field-oriented education and student employment. Additionally, by February 2027, a state-of-the-art dormitory will be constructed.

To commemorate the approval and opening of the Aviation Technology Education Center, the school and the Office of Education are planning an opening ceremony for the "Busan Aviation High School Aviation Technology Education Center" in April.

Kim Hyungu, Director of the Digital Future Education Division at the Office of Education, stated, "The establishment of Busan Aviation High School, which is based on local settlement and linked to the region’s core aviation industry, along with the approval of the Aviation Technology Education Center, will greatly contribute to the development of the future aviation industry in the region," adding, "We will provide unwavering support for nurturing and developing future aviation technology talent."
