Korea Cittaslow Mayors and Governors Council Holds Regular General Meeting in Sinan County

First Meeting Held After Park Wooriang Took Office as Chairman
Discussion on the International Assembly to Be Held in Wando This June

Shinan County, Jeonnam (Governor Park Wooriang) announced on the 20th that it held the regular general meeting of the Mayors and Governors Council on the 19th, attended by around 70 people including representatives from 14 domestic cities and counties that have joined the International Cittaslow Federation, mayors, governors, and Son Daehyun, Chairman of the Korea Cittaslow Headquarters.

This general meeting was the first to be held since Governor Park Wooriang began his two-year term as the 8th Chairman of the Korea Cittaslow Mayors and Governors Council on November 17 last year. The meeting discussed the approval of the 2024 settlement, the 2025 business plan, and the upcoming International Cittaslow General Assembly to be held in Wando this June. The vice president, Damyang County, and the secretary general, Yesan County, who attended the meeting, will assist Governor Park Wooriang and serve their two-year terms together.

Shinan County was first certified as an international Cittaslow city in 2007 with Jeungdo and expanded this certification to the entire county in 2018.

At the general meeting, Governor Park Wooriang stated, "Through strengthening exchange and cooperation among domestic local governments that have joined as member cities with the approval of the International Cittaslow Federation, we will strive to realize the basic philosophy of Cittaslow, promote sustainable urban development, and vitalize the Cittaslow movement so that residents can lead happier lives."

The Korea Cittaslow Mayors and Governors Council has been active since 2011, aiming to realize the basic philosophy of Cittaslow in cities and counties that have received Cittaslow certification.
