Card Payments Available from March 20...
Relieving the Burden on Volume-Based Waste Bag Vendors and Small Restaurants
District Improves Payment System and Fully Subsidizes Card Fees
Yeongdeungpo-gu (District Mayor Choi Ho-kwon) announced that starting from March 20, the payment method for purchasing volume-based waste bags and food waste disposal payment certificates will be improved to allow card payments, thereby alleviating the economic burden on small business owners.
Until now, volume-based waste bag vendors and small restaurants could only purchase bags and payment certificates in cash through companies contracted with the district, causing inconvenience for small business owners.
In some sales locations, complaints arose as residents were asked to pay in cash due to the burden of card payment fees.
In response, the district improved the payment system of the companies and fully subsidized the card payment fees to reduce the burden on small business owners and enhance payment convenience.
With this measure, volume-based waste bag vendors and small restaurants will be able to accept card payments, making cash flow management smoother. It is also expected to reduce residents' inconvenience caused by refusal of card payments.
The list of volume-based waste bag vendors, including those selling special sacks, can be found on the district office website under the ‘Civil Service Guide - Civil Service by Category - Cleaning’ bulletin board. For more details, contact the local community service center or the district office cleaning department.
Choi Ho-kwon, Mayor of Yeongdeungpo-gu, stated, “We hope that the introduction of card payments will help reduce the operational burden on small restaurants and bag vendors,” and added, “We will continue to prepare effective support measures for small business owners and residents.”
