"I Do Not Wish for Bloodshed...
But the Rule of Law Must Be Upheld"
Jeon Han-gil, a Korean history instructor who has expressed opposition to the impeachment of President Yoon Seok-yeol, is expected to spark controversy by revealing the home of Moon Hyung-bae, Acting Chief Justice of the Constitutional Court, during a YouTube live broadcast.
On the 19th, Jeon said on TV Chosun's YouTube channel 'Gang Punch', "The people who believed that the Constitutional Court justices would conduct a fair trial have been completely deceived."
He added, "During the impeachment trial process, ten illegalities occurred, undermining procedural legitimacy," and claimed, "Moon Hyung-bae (Acting Chief Justice of the Constitutional Court), a friend of Lee Jae-myung, probably said to Lee, 'Hey, what do we do? This is a big problem. President Yoon Seok-yeol's dismissal cannot happen. It's 4 to 4, so we can't reach a conclusion.'"
He continued, "What is wrong with what I said?" and mentioned, "Moon Hyung-bae, the Acting Chief Justice, lives in a rented apartment worth 1.2 billion KRW called OOO. The public is now fully aware of this as well." This statement has been edited out of the current YouTube video, and the apartment name was withheld in the full interview released.
Regarding the opposition's demand that President Yoon issue a message accepting the Constitutional Court's decision, Jeon said, "I absolutely do not wish for bloodshed. It is true that acceptance is necessary," but added, "There is a condition. I will accept the decision only if it is made under the rule of law, fairness, and common sense in procedures."
He stated, "If unjust justices make a ruling to uphold (the president's impeachment) by unjust means, the people cannot remain silent," and said, "We must defend liberal democracy against injustice. Exercising the people's right to resist perfectly aligns with the spirit of the constitution." He also said, "Just wait and see, if a constitutional amendment is made with me voicing on behalf of the 2030 generation, the Constitutional Court will definitely be abolished."
