Seongdong-gu Expands Operation of Public Night and Holiday Pediatric Hospitals... Hanyang University Hospital Newly Designated Dalbit Children's Hospital

Seongdong-gu (District Mayor Jung Won-oh) announced that it is expanding the operation of public late-night children's hospitals that are open during nights and holidays to address the gap in medical care for children.

Before hospitals even open, lining up to see a pediatrician, known as the 'pediatric open run,' has become a social issue. Especially during late-night hours or holidays, there are no open clinics, forcing many to endure high costs and long waiting times by using emergency rooms or waiting until regular hospitals open, causing significant inconvenience.

In response, Seongdong-gu operates various forms of public late-night children's hospitals to ensure that pediatric patients can always receive prompt and appropriate medical care, filling the gaps in medical service availability.

First, since April 2023, the district has designated and operated the ‘Woori Ai Anshim Clinic’ for sick children on weekday evenings. The ‘Woori Ai Anshim Clinic’ designated ‘Ideul Pediatric and Adolescent Clinic (234 Gosan-ro)’ provides pediatric specialist care until 9 PM on weekdays.

Since October last year, the ‘Dalbit Children’s Hospital’ has also been in operation. The name ‘Dalbit Children’s Hospital’ means ‘protecting children even on moonlit nights,’ and it is a late-night children’s hospital that allows mild pediatric patients under 18 years old to receive outpatient care at medical institutions during weekday nights, weekends, and holidays instead of emergency rooms. ‘365 Daum Clinic (17 Wangsimni Gwangjang-ro)’ is designated as the ‘Dalbit Children’s Hospital’ and offers year-round care from 10 AM to midnight on weekdays and from 9 AM to midnight on weekends and holidays.

Additionally, in January this year, ‘Hanyang University Hospital’ was newly designated as a ‘Woori Ai Anshim Hospital.’ The ‘Woori Ai Anshim Hospital’ is a hospital-level medical institution where 24-hour pediatric emergency care is available during nights and holidays. It is equipped with specialized medical staff for severe pediatric patients and a system capable of rapid and accurate diagnosis and treatment in emergency situations.

With the addition of the ‘Woori Ai Anshim Hospital’ to the ‘Woori Ai Anshim Clinic’ and ‘Dalbit Children’s Hospital’ as public late-night children’s hospitals, not only has the range of hospital choices expanded, but immediate care by specialists during nights and holidays has become possible, greatly improving satisfaction and convenience for pediatric patients and their guardians.

Furthermore, it is expected to greatly assist in prioritizing urgent treatment for severe patients in emergency rooms.

Jung Won-oh, Mayor of Seongdong-gu, stated, “Through the expanded operation of the ‘Public Late-Night Children’s Hospitals,’ mild pediatric patients can now receive more efficient and prompt care during nights and holidays without burdening emergency rooms. We will continue to do our best to create a seamless medical environment where children in the region can always receive care with peace of mind and to promote health in daily life.”
