This meeting was attended by government officials, including the head of the Pohang branch of the Ministry of Employment and Labor and the head of the Gyeongbuk Eastern branch of the Korea Occupational Safety and Health Agency, as well as safety and health leaders from the four major steel companies, who engaged in in-depth discussions on safety issues in the steel industry.

The Ministry of Employment and Labor plans to actively support the improvement of safety capabilities in small and medium-sized enterprises by expanding safety consulting and financial support for safety equipment in high-risk industries prone to fatal accidents.

Additionally, the Korea Occupational Safety and Health Agency will provide low-interest loans for facility improvements and support systems for risk assessment, offering standard models and industry-specific cases to help companies enhance their safety management levels.

Each steel company is also making its own efforts.

POSCO is working to establish a sustainable safety management system and supporting its affiliates in this process; Hyundai Steel is expanding educational support for its partners and strengthening the expertise of fire watchers. Dongkuk Steel is directly employing workers from partner companies to provide a stable working environment, while SeAH Steel is operating an intensive care program for small-scale partners.

Lee Dongho, Deputy Director of HSE at Pohang Steelworks, said, "This meeting will serve as an important starting point for creating a culture of safety and mutual growth together with steel companies in the Pohang region."
