The vaccination rate for foot-and-mouth disease (FMD) prevention in the 22 cities and counties of Jeonnam has been analyzed to exceed 90%.
On the 14th, after the first case of FMD was confirmed at a Hanwoo cattle farm in Yeongam, Jeonnam Province designated the area within 3 to 10 kilometers of the farm as a risk zone and began vaccination.
Dedicated officials supervised and guided the vaccination process on-site, and in farms raising 50 to 100 cattle, the farm owners administered the vaccine themselves.
As of now, the FMD preventive vaccination rate in the 22 cities and counties of Jeonnam stands at 92%. Jeonnam Province plans to complete vaccination in all 22 areas by the 22nd.
Meanwhile, as of today, there have been a total of 10 FMD cases in Jeonnam: 9 in Yeongam and 1 in Muan.
