Emergency Transportation Fees, Recovery Support for Mothers at Public Postpartum Care Centers, and Public Medical Nursing Care Costs
Uljin County Medical Center in North Gyeongsang Province (Director: Cho Youngrae) was selected for three final projects after applying for the 2025 Hanul Nuclear Power Headquarters KHNP support program.
After applying for the program in the field of regional welfare projects in August last year, the selection results were notified in January 2025, and a written agreement for project implementation was signed in March 2025.
All three projects are ongoing and retroactively applied from January 2025. In particular, the "Emergency Transportation Fee Support for Uljin Residents" is a new project for 2024, and last year, transportation costs totaling 55.6 million won were provided to 278 Uljin residents, receiving a great response from the local community.
The public medical nursing care cost support project for long-term care hospitals will increase its support rate from a maximum of 40% in 2024 to a maximum of 45% in 2025, which is expected to help ease the financial burden on hospitalized patients' families.
In addition, the number of mothers who gave birth at Uljin County Medical Center increased by 63%, from 49 in 2023 to 80 in 2024. The number of mothers using the public postpartum care center also increased by 28%, from 92 in 2023 to 118 in 2024.
The Uljin County Public Postpartum Care Center operates four programs for the rapid recovery of admitted mothers: professional instructor-led maternal massage, Oketani, postpartum exercise/yoga, and postpartum depression meditation. These programs are provided free of charge up to twice a week for two weeks, resulting in high satisfaction among mothers.
Cho Youngrae, Director of Uljin County Medical Center, said, "I would like to thank Hanul Nuclear Power Headquarters for their generous support," and added, "We will continue to cooperate and work together with Hanul Nuclear Power Headquarters to do our best to provide medical services for the healthy lives of local residents."
County Governor Son Byungbok stated, "I am pleased that the selection of this support program will allow us to provide high-quality medical services to our residents," and added, "We will actively utilize local medical resources to minimize medical gaps and continuously strengthen the medical sector so that residents can receive care with peace of mind."
